The Boston Celtics signed big man Nathan Knight to a two-way contract, the team announced Sunday. In a corresponding move, the team waived guard Jay Scrubb, who tore his ACL in practice earlier this month.

The 6-foot-8 forward/center went undrafted in 2020 and signed a two-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks. Knight appeared in 33 games for the Hawks, averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest.

After one season in Atlanta, the 26-year-old signed another two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he has spent the last two seasons, appearing in 75 total games (38 a season ago).

Knight, a Syracuse native, played his college ball at William & Mary and owns career averages of 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field.

Knight will likely spend most of his time in Maine but can be active for up to 50 NBA games as a two-way signee. He will have no limit on practices, workouts, or other activities with the NBA team.

The Celtics now have all three of their two-way spots filled with Knight, Neemias Queta, and JD Davison.

As for the standard NBA roster, Boston has 14 roster spots filled, with Luke Kornet, Svi Mykhailiuk, Dalano Banton, and Lamar Stevens on partially guaranteed or non-guaranteed deals. In the past, Boston has often left the 15th spot open.
