It’s only fitting that the first time the NBA names an Eastern Conference Finals MVP, which was named after Larry Bird, that a Celtics player receive the award.
After scoring 26-plus points in five games, while also logging eight-plus rebounds in five, Jayson Tatum has been named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP. Tatum finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal in the decisive Game 7.
This honor also comes on the heels of Tatum being named All-NBA first team for the first time in his career.
Tatum and the Celtics will play the Warriors in Game 1 on Thursday at 9 p.m. Golden State has home-court advantage, so the series will start in California.
