Joe Mazzulla’s coaching staff is set to add another individual who was previously with the franchise. Although, “ex-Celtic” may not be the best way to describe Amile Jefferson.
For one, he never played in a regular season game for the C’s. He signed an Exhibit-10 deal to start 2019-20, but he was released in December and signed with Orlando.
More importantly, he’s more likely to be referred to as Jayson Tatum’s college teammate. That’s right, someone who played with Tatum is going to be one of his coaches in 2023-24, per Travis Branham of 247 Sports.
Jefferson joins the Celtics after previously working as an assistant coach at Duke, having rejoined his alma mater in the summer of 2021.
