Luke Kornet reportedly signs mega-deal with Spurs

After two stints in Boston and one NBA Championship, Luke Kornet has signed a four-year, $41 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania.

Further contract details haven't yet emerged, but the total deal shows a major pay bump for Kornet. He played last season for the Celtics on a one-year, $2.8 million deal.

Kornet averaged 6 points and 5.3 rebounds over 73 regular season games. He represented a depth piece for Boston behind Kristaps Porzingis, who was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks last week, and Al Horford, who is a free agent.

The Celtics acquired the 29-year-old center in a 2021 trade. He spent time in both Boston and Maine, then played for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks in 2022. He returned to Maine in 2022 and signed a contract with Boston that spring.
