the greg hill show: Bill belichick joins the show following the patriots 21-17 loss to raiders:
The Patriots fell to 1-5 on Sunday after a tight, pseudo-competitive, 21-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The offense still looks wonky, the defense sometimes suspect, and mistakes continue to pile on.
The one positive, however, was Kendrick Bourne.
The 28-year-old wide receiver was New England’s leading pass catcher on Sunday, hauling in 10 catches for 89 yards, including 6 for 42 on their second scoring drive alone. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about the third-year Patriot on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Monday:
“Yeah, KB’s done a good job for us all year, not just yesterday,” Belichick said of his performance in Vegas. “Getting open, with the ball in his hands, after the catch. He’s shown some good run skills and the ball security’s been much better this year.”
He’s worked hard all year,” he continued. “From the spring, through training camp, and is putting together a productive season.”
If you remember a season ago, Bourne was essentially in the doghouse having started just two games and playing just under 42% of snaps. This year, he’s already approaching his output from 2022:
2022 (16 games, two starts): 48 targets, 35 receptions, 434 yards, one touchdown
2023 (six games, three starts): 44 targets, 28 receptions, 307 yards, two touchdowns
Belichick also spoke about Mac Jones’ performance, Malik Cunningham, his message potentially not resonating, and more on Monday’s edition of WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show. You can listen to the full interview here.
