Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was predicted by some to go inside the top five, but he had to wait until No. 15 overall when the Patriots selected him.

Apparently that didn't bother him at all.

"This is what I wanted all along and I can’t wait to play for really the greatest franchise in NFL history," Jones said on NFL Network immediately after being selected. "It’s going to be a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to it.”

Jones was asked about winning another Super Bowl with the Patriots and he didn't want to go that far.

“We’ll see," he said. "I’ve gotten a chance to play for some legendary coaches, even in high school, and Coach [Nick] Saban. I am looking forward to taking Coach Belichick’s coaching. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Jones will be competing with Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham for the starting job.
