It sounds like Bill Belichick isn’t going anywhere.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport this Sunday morning, the Patriots and head coach Belichick “during the offseason, quietly agreed to terms on a lucrative, multi-year, new contract. His contract, one of the closely held secrets in New England… Now, contractually, he is locked up long-term.”

Amidst the Patriots 1-5 start this season, there were some question marks surrounding the head coach's job security. Those have seemingly been erased with this report.

This is an especially important note for New England heading into the NFL trade deadline coming up on October 31. Belichick now, in theory, will continue to have full control over what the team does both now and in the future, including the decision(s) at quarterback moving forward.
