New England Patriots fans are still buzzing off the news that Tom Brady will be returning to Gillette Stadium and appearing before his loyal fans of 20 years once again…and this time not in the uniform of another team. According to data from Ticketmaster and the NFL Ticket Exchange, the demand for Pats-Eagles tickets Week 1, aka The Tom Brady Tribute Game, are expected to be the most in-demand of the season. This should come as no surprise seeing as Pats fans will get their long overdue chance to fawn over the GOAT and deliver the victory lap they’ve been dying to deliver. Add in the excitement of the kickoff game and the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles coming to town? And you have one coveted ticket!
But let’s not kid ourselves…it’s all about Brady. Even though Patriots owner Robert Kraft said there will be many phases to the team’s tribute to Brady (beginning with his cameo in the schedule release video), fans want their first crack, before the season can go north or south, to cheer their hero.
A quick check of the NFL Ticket Exchange on Ticketmaster has the cheapest seats going for $550, with premium seats on the 50-yard line selling for... GASP… $2,850 apiece. Unless you have season tickets, or some wealthy generous friends, or stumble into a pile of cash soon, you might be taking this one in from home. And hopefully it’s a good game (the Eagles opened as 4.5-point favorites). What the Pats have in store for before the game and halftime will remain a much speculated upon mystery for the next several months.
Prices might come down over time, but after a frustrating 2022 campaign it’s good to see The Brady Effect in play on his old stomping grounds and some excitement around the Pats’ upcoming season months before kickoff.
