6 rings & football things: One-Off Wednesday: What makes a good owner?
The Patriots are in the thick of the scouting trail this week ahead of April's NFL Draft.
On Wednesday, director of scouting Eliot Wolf, offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, and quarterbacks coach T.C. McCartney were on hand for USC QB Caleb Williams' Pro Day in SoCal while wide receivers coach Tyler Hughes was reportedly in Austin for the University of Texas Pro Day.
Additionally, while in the Lonestar state, the Patriots' brass met with star Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy on Monday afternoon, according to Sportskeeda's Tony Pauline,
Worthy made noise at the '24 NFL Scouting Combine last month when he broke the events all-time record for a 4.21 (!!) second 40-yard dash. The 20-year-old measured in at just 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, but his lightning quick speed is likely to make him a first-round pick.
In his final season at Texas, Worthy led the Longhorns with 75 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns. He's an elite separator and his ability to play both on the outside and in the slot makes him an intruiging prospect.
New England also reportedly met with Texas tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders this week. Sanders caught 45 passes for 682 yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Quinn Ewers this season. He's a projected to be a day-two pick.
