6 rings: Final thoughts and grades from Sunday & a look at some potential suitors for Bill Belichick
"I'm not going to make any announcements on our lineup at any position." That's what Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said on Wednesday morning when asked how he envisions the quarterback depth chart shaping up this week.
While we don't know, officially, who will be behind center for New England on Sunday, Wednesday's practice gave us a decent tell:
During the media-accessible portion of the session, it was Bailey Zappe who took the majority of quarterback reps in a drill with wide receivers and tight ends. He was followed up by QB/WR Malik Cunningham.
Mac Jones and Will Grier stood behind, not taking a single rep.
It's getting interesting in Foxborough. Here's what else stood out:
Attendance:
Absent:
WR Demario Douglas
WR/RB Ty Montgomery
IR:
CB Marcus Jones
DL Daniel Ekuale
CB Christian Gonzalez
LB Matthew Judon
OT Riley Reiff
OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
WR Kendrick Bourne
Other Notes:
- After waiving QB Will Grier on Saturday to make room on the active roster for OT Conor McDermott, the Patriots reported re-signed the signal caller to the practice squad on Tuesday. He was present at practice on Wednesday.
- New England also reportedly filled their final open practice squad spot with the signing of WR Mathew Sexton on Wednesday. He was also at practice, sporting jersey No. 47.
- WR Demario Douglas, who left Sunday's game in New York with a head injury, was not at Wednesday's practice.
