6 rings & football things: New kickoff rules, J.J. McCarthy buzz, and what should the Patriots do at pick No. 3?!

A second Patriots special teamer has called it a career this offseason.

Safety and special teamer Cody Davis, who signed with New England in 2020 and has been with the team for the last four seasons, announced his retirement on Twitter on Thursday:

Davis, 34, was signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech following the 2013 Draft, and spent five seasons there before a two-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Over four campaigns in New England, several of which were shortened due to injury, Davis tallied 35 tackles. He also scored his only career touchdown on Christmas Eve this past season following a forced fumble on a kickoff by rookie Marte Mapu.
