The most obvious Hard Knocks assignment for this year's NFL training camp may actually be happening.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the New York Jets are, “bracing for the preseason Hard Knocks assignment.”

The Jets have had an offseason for the ages, with the acquisition of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers being the focal point. Rodgers enters Gotham City having played with the Packers for the last eighteen seasons and will reunite with his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to man the New York offense. The four-time MVP will have several quality weapons surrounding him in Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Corey Davis - and is also bringing receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb along for the ride.

While all 32 teams are “eligible” for Hard Knocks each season, they're allowed to decline unless you are: 1) without a first-year head coach, 2) have not been to the playoffs in either of the last two years, and 3) have not been the Hard Knocks subject in the last ten years.

The four NFL teams that cannot say no are the Jets, Saints, Bears, and Commanders.

Florio notes that “typically does not make a team submit to Hard Knocks when it doesn’t want to.” It seems like they may go against the grain this preseason to give the fans their wish.
