6 Rings: The curious case of DeAndre Hopkins
After much speculation, and a reportedly positive visit to Nashville to meet with the Tennessee Titans, DeAndre Hopkins is finally making his way to Foxboro.
According to Ian Rapoport and confirmed by others, the free-agent wide receiver will be visiting with the Patriots this week. The 31-year-old veteran has been linked to the Patriots in a number of ways for months now, and finally he comes face to face with Pats brass for a chat about him potentially suiting up for coach Bill Belichick and crew this fall. D-Hop has not been shy about his feelings for Belichick, though Belichick was his usual cagey self Monday when it came to confirming reports of Hopkins visiting.
Now the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro will discuss what it might look like for him to play for the Patriots and reunite with his former coach from the Houston Texans, Bill O’Brien. Fans are geeked up for the visit to say the least.
We’ll see just how the visit goes and whether Hopkins is using the Pats as a leverage play to get offers elsewhere or if he’s legitimately interested in coming to New England. Mac Jones let it be known he’d like to throw to D-Hop in-season. Other players like Kendrick Bourne said they’d love to play alongside Hopkins. Maybe if the Pats spring for a fancy ride from the airport for Hopkins, the groundwork for a positive impression will be made?
