Miami Gardens, Fla. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills are not only playoff bound, but also division champions for a fourth-straight season after defeating the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night, 21-14, in an epic regular season finale at Hard Rock Stadium.
While the offense did get off to a shaky start with two-straight drives leading to interceptions, Josh Allen was able to get it back on track, helping lead the Bills with 359 yards in the air on 30-of-38 passing and two touchdowns through the air. He also led all Buffalo rushers with 67 yards on 15 carries.
Sunday night's win helped the Bills secure another AFC East title, and also the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs, starting next weekend with the Wild Card Round. That's where the Bills will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST at Highmark Stadium.
"We knew what was in front of us. We had a lot of internal talks, and trusted the guys in this locker room," said Allen during his postgame comments with the media on Sunday. "At the end of the day, this is fun, this is cool. I'll never say 'no' to winning the division, but the only thing that it solidifies is a home game and one more game. It doesn't mean anything unless we go out there next week and do our job."
Bills safety Taylor Rapp closed out Sunday night's game with an interception that allowed the Buffalo offense to kneel out the clock in victory formation with the Dolphins having no timeouts remaining.
Allen spoke highly of his first-year teammate, who has been putting in the work all season up until this point.
"'T-Rapp' making a heck of a play, he's been great for us all year round," Allen said. "He's kind of been playing that rover role, sometimes in and sometimes out, depending if Micah [Hyde] and Jordan [Poyer] are ready to go. He's been working hard all season, and deserves a moment like that. I'm so proud of him."
