Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills were looking to survive and advance in the 2023 NFL Playoffs, but ultimately fell short once again, falling in heartbreaking fashion to the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium.
In a game the Bills needed to advance to the the AFC Championship next Sunday afternoon in Baltimore, quarterback Josh Allen completes performed admirably overall. Through the air, the sixth-year quarterback went 26-of-39 for 186 yards and a touchdown, while also tallying a pair of additional scores on the ground.
With the season ending for a third-straight season in the AFC Divisional Round, Allen couldn't help but feel a bit bitter about Sunday's loss, once again, to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
"It sucks, losing sucks," said Allen following Sunday's defeat in Orchard Park. "Losing to them or losing to anybody at home sucks."
The Bills had a chance to tie the game at 27-27 with 1:47 to go in regulation, but a 44-yard field goal attempt from kicker Tyler Bass missed the kick wide to the right.
Allen was quick to come to his teammate's defense following the loss, saying the Bills lost the game as a team when all was said and done.
"I wish he wouldn't have been put in that situation," Allen said. "One play doesn't define a game, it doesn't define a season. I know people are going to be out there saying that, and we've got to be there for him. If we execute a couple of plays prior, we are probably singing a different tune."
