Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - It appears as though Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston has avoided serious injury after leaving Tuesday's practice at training camp with a right knee injury.
As first reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz and followed up by other NFL reporters, Hairston is only expected to be out on a week-to-week basis after suffering a knee sprain.
Schultz adds in his report the Bills believe Hairston should be ready for the team for their Week 1 matchup the Baltimore Ravens on "Sunday Night Football" at Highmark Stadium.
Hairston was working with his fellow cornerbacks on Tuesday in individual drills when he went down on the field. After being tended to by the team's training staff, he was able to walk off the field, but did need some assistance heading back to the locker room.
The 21-year-old rookie was in the middle of a battle with veteran Tre'Davious White for the starting cornerback position opposite Christian Benford to start training camp.
The Bills will get back to practice on Thursday at St. John Fisher University, starting at 9:45 a.m. Then the team will return to Orchard Park on Friday for the annual "Return of the Blue and Red" practice at Highmark Stadium, starting at 5:30 p.m.
