Bills start fast at OTAs

The team jumped right into 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Tuesday may have been the very first session of organized team activities (OTAs) this offseason for the Buffalo Bills, but it looked quite a bit like a regular season practice, complete with situational football, and plenty of competition.

After stretching and individual position warm-ups, the team went right to 7-on-7 offense against defense in goal-to-go situations. That wasn't allowed through the first five weeks of the offseason program.

With no offensive line, there were a couple easy touchdown passes over the short middle. But there were also a few solid touchdown throws and catches, including a terrific one-handed grab by tight end Dalton Kincaid, who then toe-tapped for the score. It came on a throw from Josh Allen.

The offense won several reps during the session, but the defense made their share of plays, as well. This included a really nice pass breakup by safety Taylor Rapp, and linebacker Dorian Williams showing off his closing speed in coverage more than once.

Players were on the field for close to two hours on the outdoor practice fields at One Bills Drive.

Whether it was the 7-on-7 or 11-on-11, the composition between the two sides was evident. Every time either side of the ball made a play, there was plenty of hollering from teammates, making it known their group won the rep.

That included an excellent catch by running back Frank Gore, Jr. at the goal line, even though he was covered well by linebacker Joe Andreessen.

Cornerback Tre’Davious White, back in a Bills uniform after playing for the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens last season, was involved in quite a few plays as well.

Allen had a good day, hooking up with wide receiver Elijah Moore, a free agent signing just after the draft, including a couple plays that went for big yardage.

The team will continue OTAs with two more sessions this week, but both will be closed to the media.
