Miami Gardens, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills will be looking to win their third-straight game and move to 7-2 with a win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
In order to do that, here are my three keys to the game, plus notes and stats:
1.) Jump on them early
The Dolphins are having a tough season. They are 2-7. They fired their general manager a little over a week ago. They just traded one of their top defensive players. They have a couple key injuries. Bills fans will be taking over their stadium. If the Bills can jump on them quickly, they’ll know they are in for a long day and may check-out. But if Buffalo gives them any life and hope early, it could be a much more competitive game throughout. The Bills need to make sure that doesn’t happen.
2.) Attack!
The Bills may want to use their top ranked running game to go right at the Miami defense, which ranks 30th in the NFL giving up 145.6 yards per game. They could also elect to throw the ball down field against a secondary that’s averaging 7.22 yards per play given up, fifth-worst in the NFL, which additionally may be missing starting cornerback Rasul Douglas and edge rusher Chop Robinson (both or doubtful). Whichever they decide, this shouldn’t be a play-it-safe type of offensive game.
3.) No explosives
Miami’s offense isn’t hitting on the same amount of explosive plays as they have been over the last few years, and they’re without Tyreek Hill. But they still have De’Von Achane in the backfield and Jaylen Waddle at wide receiver. Both are capable, at any time, of hitting a big play. They will try to use their speed to hit on something big in the run or pass game, and the Bills need to be ready to make sure that doesn’t happen.
