Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 2024 NFL season right around the corner, there are still numerous questions revolving around the Buffalo Bills, and what kind of team they will become after so many changes this offseason.
Starting very early on in the offseason, the Bills moved on from a number of key roster players that indicated just how different the complexity of the team would look next season. This included the departure of leaders on both sides of the ball like Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, Tre'Davious White, Mitch Morse, Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs.
With all of these big changes, the Bills were quickly seen as a "team in transition," and a team that may not meet the same expectations they've become accustomed to in recent seasons.
All of these new storylines, accompanied with new faces added in free agency and the NFL Draft, have put more attention than usual on the Bills this offseason and even into training camp.
With training camp now officially wrapped at St. John Fisher University, the focus shifts to preseason Game 1 on Saturday against the Chicago Bears at Highmark Stadium. It will get the ball rolling for the Bills to get ramped up for the Week 1 opener on Sunday, Sept. 8 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Overall, the Bills will look to remain atop the AFC East for a fifth-straight season, and remain a top contender in the AFC. But that, once again, won't be so easy with the competition within the conference and the division starting to seemingly even out.
With weeks remaining until the 2024 regular season opener, the Bills are not the only one needing a warm up.
Howard Simon returned to the airwaves of WGR on Wednesday for the return of "Howard Picks the Bills"! In his first round of picks since the start of training camp, it saw a somewhat cautious approach from Howard to the Bills' success this season.
When all was said and done, Howard picked the Bills to finish the 2024 campaign with a 10-7 record. However, he was rather uncertain as to if that would be enough to win the AFC East once again.
