How much did Howard's picks change after Buffalo's loss to the Dolphins on Sunday?

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It's tough for any team in the National Football League to go undefeated in the regular season, let alone put up a substantial streak of wins in a given season.

After the Buffalo Bills dominated the opening two weeks of the 2022 season, it was certainly understandable why some people thought the team could have the chance to go 17-0 in the regular season.

However, given the large number of injuries the team faced, the effects of the sweltering heat and humidity of South Florida and some lapses in execution, the Bills failed to come up with a Week 3 win over their AFC East rival Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.

Despite Josh Allen almost single-handedly leading the Bills to a victory with 400 passing yards on 42-of-63 passing, time ran out for Buffalo late in the fourth quarter, as the team could not stop the clock on a late drive in a 21-19 loss.

Now with the Bills sitting at 2-1, the pressure may be off the them to an extent, but the schedule does not get much easier in Week 4.

Buffalo will head back out on the road on Sunday to face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The challenge will be tough, as the Ravens also sit at 2-1 on the season - only loss also coming to the Dolphins - with Jackson playing at, arguably, an MVP level through three games.

In addition to more injury concerns for the Bills, as they head into their Week 4 showdown with the Ravens, there is also concern for more weather hinderances to come on Sunday. After Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday, the remnants of the storm will linger around for a while, and could impact the mid-Atlantic area come Sunday afternoon.

Just one week prior, Howard Simon was riding extremely high on the Bills following their "Monday Night Football" throttling of the Tennessee Titans at Highmark Stadium. Howard was so confident in the Bills, he went on to pick Buffalo to finish with an undefeated season for the first time in the history of "Howard Picks the Bills".

Unfortunately for Howard, Sunday's loss to Miami swings his picks just a touch from the high of 17-0.

With the concerns surrounding injuries heading into Week 4 once again, as well as the potential for more inclement weather, Howard is not feeling too confident in the team's chances in Baltimore. He picks Buffalo to lose to the Ravens to fall to 2-2 on the season.

Despite falling to .500 through four games to start the year, Howard still feels this Bills team has what it takes to reach the playoffs and contend for Super Bowl LVII this February in Glendale, Arizona.
