Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It is expected to be a big 2022 season for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.
Following the departure of veteran slot receiver Cole Beasley during the offseason, McKenzie was one of the wideouts on the Buffalo roster that was expected to compete for the open position on the depth chart. During the 2021 season, McKenzie got a couple of chances to fill in for Beasley and thrived, especially in Week 16 against the New England Patriots when the 27-year-old exploded for 125 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions.
Heading into training camp at St. John Fisher University, McKenzie was expected to compete for the slot receiver role with the likes of newcomer Jamison Crowder and 2022 fourth-round pick Khalil Shakir.

During an appearance on WGR's “Sports Talk Saturday”, McKenzie talked with Nate Geary about his potential role on this year's roster. Coming into camp this year, McKenzie held his own expectations of what he wanted to accomplish.
“I wanted to prove I could be an every down receiver, not just a gadget guy," McKenzie said following Saturday's training camp practice. "Get a play here and there and get out.”
It may be hard to believe, but McKenzie is actually the longest-tenured wide receiver in the Bills' locker room. When asked about being the most veteran receiver in Buffalo, McKenzie joked about how much the wide receiver room has to hear that.
“I tell them every day,” he said.
McKenzie eventually elaborated on that point, saying he has been through the best of times, worst of times and everything in-between.
