Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills will be releasing cornerback Tre'Davious White with a post-June 1 designation, as first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter and confirmed by WGR.

With the post-June 1 designation, the Bills can spread out his $10 million dead cap hit over two seasons, counting just over $6 million this year and just over $4 million next year.

When all is said and done, the Bills will save just North of $10 million by releasing the former All-Pro cornerback, but the cap savings will not take effect until June 1. The Bills will still have to carry his full salary cap charge until then.

White will still be free to sign with any other club beginning March 13, the start of the new league year.

The 29-year-old was the very first draft pick of the Bills after Sean McDermott was named head coach in 2017. He was taken with the 27th overall selection out of LSU.

In 82 career games with the Bills, White accumulated 311 total tackles, three sacks, 18 interceptions, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and a touchdown.

White's best season, arguably, came in 2019 when he led the league with six interceptions and registered 58 total tackles in 15 games played. That led to the first of two-straight Pro Bowl nods and his only First-Team All-Pro selection.

The Bills originally held the 10th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but traded it to the Kansas City Chiefs, who used the pick to select quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
