Dallas, Texas (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller turned himself in to police in Dallas on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued following a domestic violence incident that took place on Wednesday.
As first reported by WFAA-TV in Dallas on Thursday morning, Miller is accused of assaulting his longtime girlfriend, who is pregnant with their child and the mother of their other children.
The 34-year-old faces one count of Assault of a Pregnant Person, which is a Third Degree felony in the State of Texas. If convicted, it carries a punishment of 2-to-10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Miller was booked on a $5,000 bond and released.
According to information obtained by our sister station, WBEN, from Dallas Police, officers responded to a residence in the 3100 block of N. Harwood Street on Wednesday at about 11 a.m. CST for a major disturbance call.
The preliminary investigation determined Miller and his girlfriend had got into a verbal argument, where he then, allegedly, assaulted her.
Police say Miller left the scene before officers arrived. The victim was not transported to a hospital, but was treated for minor injuries.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
The Bills have released a statement in light of the incident surrounding Miller:
"This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We're in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point."
The Bills are currently on their bye week and not playing.
Miller is in his second year with the Bills, where he has played 19 games, racking up 23 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, eight sacks and two forced fumbles.
In eight games this season since returning from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, Miller has struggled with just two total tackles and one quarterback hit.
Miller was originally drafted second overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M. He is a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Broncos (2015) and the Los Angeles Rams (2021), and also an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro.
