Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN/WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have released a family statement confirming play-by-play man John Murphy has suffered a stroke.

The statement reads:
"John Murphy suffered a stroke last weekend. He is recovering at home with his family and making progress every day. John and the Murphy family are grateful for the excellent care by the staff and doctors at Buffalo General Medical Center. We appreciate everyone’s support."
Murphy missed the broadcast of the "Monday Night Football" game in Cincinnati against the Bengals due to illness.
"In the interim, Chris Brown will continue to perform play-by-play duties on the Bills Radio Network," a team statement reads. "We look forward to having John back in the booth as soon as possible. Get well soon John!"
"Murph" is the longtime voice of the Bills on WGR Sports Radio 550, and took over for the legendary Van Miller after serving as the color analyst with Van on game broadcasts.
