(Audacy Sports/WGR 550) - With the 2023 NFL Draft just days away, the Jets and Green Bay Packers have still not managed to work out a deal to send Aaron Rodgers to New York.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the two sides have recently re-engaged in trade talks, although a deal is not imminent.

Brian Costello of the New York Post joined Joe Benigno on WFAN on Saturday to talk about the pending Rodgers deal, and where things stand between the two sides.
“From the Packers perspective, they’re trading a four-time MVP, a guy who clearly the Jets want and they feel like should get first-round pick next year, no conditions,” Costello said. “The Jets view it as guy who is gonna turn 40 this year, he might not be here in 2024, they don’t want to give up a first-round pick for that, unconditionally.
“I think the Jets would do a conditional pick, where you can start with a third-rounder, goes to a second-rounder if he does something, goes to a first-rounder if they go to the AFC Championship Game or he wins MVP – that kind of thing. But they don’t want to give up that first-round pick in '24 unconditionally.”
Costello believes something will get done by Friday night, where the Jets hold two second-round picks. He also added both teams are backed into a corner, and the idea of another team swooping in — such as the San Francisco 49ers — is unlikely.
“The 49ers have no first- or second-round picks this year,” Costello said. “The 49ers have three quarterbacks they’re already they’re dealing with. The Packers don’t want to trade him in the NFC. There’s been no other teams. Rodgers has said he wants to play for the Jets. He said that publicly.”
