Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – After a postponement due to inclement winter weather on Wednesday, the Buffalo Sabres will get back to work on Thursday night when they host the Chicago Blackhawks at KeyBank Center in Downtown Buffalo.

The Sabres are nearing the end of a season-long six-game homestand, with Buffalo going 2-2-0 through the first four games.

At the Game 44 mark of the 2023-24 regular season, the Sabres continue to sit on the outside looking in with the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo still sits seven points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but a run similar to last year's late-season push could help the team make a late push once again.

Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams continues to like how his team is becoming more well-rounded team, while also fighting through some struggles that come along with that.

"There is a natural emphasis from Day 1 of training camp. Making sure we clean up some things defensively… and I think, to some extent, we’ve been not as good offensively, because we’ve been a little more focused defensively," said Adams during his appearance on "Schopp and the Bulldog" on Thursday.

On a more positive note, Adams was quick to praise Sabres rookie Zach Benson. He says he was even surprised with how quickly he has taken to the NHL.

"I would not have expected it," Adams said with Mike Schopp and Chris "Bulldog" Parker. "As much as I love Benson and was excited when we drafted him, to make our opening night roster… he has consistently played in a highly competitive way that helps you win."
