Lyubushkin is not afraid to make big hits or drop the gloves if he has to. He is not an offensive defenseman, as he has three goals and 22 assists in his career.

Before signing in Arizona for the 2018-19 season, Lyubushkin played five years for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv of the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.
