A pair of goals by Andreas Anthanasiou were enough to propel the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday afternoon at KeyBank Center.
Neither team was able to score in the opening period, despite scoring chances for both teams. Los Angeles was called for the only penalty when Dustin Brown was penalized for tripping midway through the first.
Dustin Tokarski stopped all 15 shots on goal by the Kings, while Buffalo had nine shots on goal that Cal Petersen was able to stop.
It took until just about three minutes remaining in the second period for the scoreless tie to be broken. Anthanasiou scored his sixth goal of the season with a wrist shot into the top corner of the net. Mikey Anderson and Arthur Kaliyev received the assists on the game's first goal.
Alex Tuch left the game in the third period after losing his balance and colliding with the goal post in the Kings' zone. The forward was on the ice for 15:02 of ice time prior to the injury in 19 shifts.
The Kings scored a pair of empty-net goals with less than a minute remaining to put the game away. First, Anthanasiou scored his second of the game to make it 2-0 Los Angeles. It was followed by Dustin Brown's eighth goal of the year with just seven seconds remaining in regulation.
