Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres announced on Tuesday the re-signing of veteran forward Zemgus Girgensons to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.
Girgensons has spent his entire 10-year career with the Sabres since being drafted in the first round (14th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. In 625 career games played, the 29-year-old has scored 81 goals and registered 93 assists for 174 points.

This past season saw Girgensons remain healthy for the longest stretch of games in his career. He managed to play 80 of 82 possible games, scoring 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points.
The Riga, Latvia native also spent this past season as an alternate captain for the Sabres along with defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.
Kyle Okposo served as team captain this past year, and also signed a one-year contract this offseason to remain with the Sabres.
