Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - With the 2022 Heritage Classic fast approaching on March 13, the Buffalo Sabres have revealed their jerseys for the game set to take place at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.
According to the Sabres' website, the "Heritage Classic uniform draws inspiration from classic looks and details from the organization's history, creating a fresh look for this marquee event."
Buffalo's Heritage Classic jersey is not a typical white away jersey, but more of a bone white color, similar to the jersey the Los Angeles Rams wore in Super Bowl LVI. Meanwhile, the Sabres' pants will be sort of a throwback to the team's 40th anniversary uniform, with the signature "Buffalo" logo being sported on the pant leg.
Also a classic touch from the 40th anniversary jersey that will return for the Heritage Classic look is the faux-quilted stitch detailing on the numbers.
The shoulder patch on Buffalo's Heritage Classic jersey will feature a look that was featured on the Sabres' Winter Classic jersey back in 2018. The team will wear the logo of the gold "charging bison Sabres" patch on the left shoulder, with the right shoulder remaining empty.
The final touch that makes the 2022 Heritage Classic jersey represent Buffalo is the lining of the neck on the inside part of the jersey. The star and lightning bolts that extend along the neck pays homage to the City of Buffalo's flag
As for the Maple Leafs, they, too, revealed their Heritage Classic jersey that pays tribute to the Toronto Arenas, who played in the first two seasons of the National Hockey League from 1917-1919.
