Tage Thompson named NHL's 'Second Star' of the Week

Thompson has a league-leading seven goals in his last seven games

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson has been named the NHL’s "Second Star" for this past week.

In three games played this past week, Thompson led the NHL with four goals and four assists for eight points. He was also plus-9.

Thompson is eighth in the NHL this season with 26 goals. He’s on an 82-game pace of 46 goals and 84 points.

In his last seven games, Thompson is second in league scoring with seven goals and five assists for 12 points. His seven goals leads the league in that time.

In his last 18 games, Thompson has 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points.

New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin is the NHL's "First Star". He won all three of his games with a 1.33 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage.

The NHL's "Third Star" this pas week is Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson. In two games, he had six points.
