
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are actively working the scene of a fatal shooting in Southwest Detroit after a man's deceased body was found with gunshot wounds on the road sometime Wednesday morning.
WWJ's Mike Campbell reported live from the scene where Detroit police detectives and crime scene investigators gathered around 5:30 a.m. on Bulwer Street near Martin between Michigan Avenue and John Kronk.
"Man found on the street on Bulwer, apparently shot dead is what I'm being told," Campbell said.
The investigation appears to be in the early stages as police are actively canvassing the area for evidence, Campbell added.
"They're now marching the streets looking for casings and other evidence. They have their cameras out, flashlights," he reported. "They're working the scene, but aren't giving any information."
It unknown when the victim was shot and it remains unclear how long the man had been in he road until he was found. As of 6:30 a.m., Detroit police did not release a motive, a timeline or an identification of the deceased male.
"We don't know when this call came in. It's been here at least an hour that I know of, but it was probably longer than that," Campbell said.
