ORION TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- Two Pontiac residents are in police custody after allegedly resisting and obstructing police during a traffic stop in Orion Township late Tuesday night.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 31-year-old male driver around 11:15 p.m. that night. When the deputy asked the driver for his driver’s license, he refused and ignored the deputy’s directives.

Authorities did not say what prompted the traffic stop, or where it happened.
At the time of the stop, the driver was on a FaceTime call with a 30-year-old woman, who was heard telling the driver he did not have to cooperate with police.
The sheriff’s office says when back-up units arrived on-scene, the driver continued to be uncooperative and was advised he was being arrested.
Authorities say the driver was pressing his feet down on the floorboards and pressing his body into the seat while pulling away from deputies as he resisted arrest.
At some point during the man’s arrest, authorities say the woman he was FaceTiming with showed up in her vehicle and parked beside the patrol cars.
As she approached with a phone in her hand, deputies gave loud, clear verbal commands not to interfere, but authorities say she was uncooperative.
The woman allegedly continued to advance on deputies aggressively and refused their directives.
Eventually, she was told she was being arrested and also resisted, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ultimately, the sheriff’s office says both the man and the woman, whose names were not released, were arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending the issuance of charges.
Authorities have not disclosed what charges either arestees may be facing.
