2 hospitalized after shooting on Southfield Freeway in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two people were injured in a shooting on the Southfield Freeway overnight.

State police say shots were fired from an unknown vehicle that pulled alongside a car in the southbound lanes near Schoolcraft around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The driver was hit in the shoulder, and a back seat passenger was hit in the knee. Both were taken to the hospital, and a motive has not yet been determined by police.

It was the second shooting on the Southfield Freeway in less than 24 hours.

Officials say two drivers were involved in a road rage incident around 10:00 p.m. Thursday morning near the I-96 interchange, when one of the drivers fired a shot, hitting the other car.

No one was injured in that incident.
