(WWJ) Detroit Police are on the hunt for two suspects at large following an assault, shooting and carjacking on the city’s west side.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, police said the 25-year-old victim was sitting in his SUV outside a convenience store, in the 14000 block of Greenfield Rd., near Schoolcraft.

That's when one suspect approached, got into the passenger side of the SUV, pulled a gun and demanded that the victim hand over his personal items. There was a struggle, police said, which then continued outside the vehicle.

A short time later, a second suspect appeared and began assaulting the victim. And as the victim tired to run away, the first suspect shot him, police said.

Both suspects drove away in the victim's vehicle, and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Suspect one is described as a Black male, early to mid-20s, with an average build and a medium brown complexion. He was last seen wearing a light-colored Gucci bucket hat, a dark color hooded sweater, black pants with two white stripes down the sides, black and purple Nike gym shoes, a gold chain and a gold watch.

Suspect number two is an unknown male with a heavy build, wearing dark clothing.

The stolen vehicle is a 2005 silver Chevy Equinox, Michigan license plate EGJ3526.

As the investigation continues, police released photos of suspect one and the Equinox, in hopes that someone in the public has seen them.
