Detroit police looking for suspect after altercation leads to gunfire inside bar, leaving 2 women hospitalized

DETROIT (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after a shooting at a Detroit bar early Sunday morning left two women injured.

Detroit police officials tell WWJ there was an altercation between a group of people inside a bar in the 8700 block of Grand River Avenue around 2 a.m.

At some point the altercation escalated to gun violence, as an unknown suspect fired shots, injuring two women, ages 29 and 22.

Authorities did not identify the bar where the shooting happened.

The 22-year-old was said to be in critical condition Sunday afternoon, while the 29-year-old was stable.

Officials have not said what triggered the altercation or what may have escalated it to the point of gunfire.

Authorities haven’t released any information about a possible suspect, but are asking anyone who knows something about the bar shooting to call Detroit police. Calls can be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
