WARREN (WWJ) - Police announced the arrest of three suspects in connection to a shooting and a car theft in Warren that left one woman in critical condition early Friday morning.

Authorities said via Local 4 that one woman and two men were arrested after a 38-year-old Livonia woman was hit by gunfire around 3 a.m. on April 15 during a carjacking at the Sunoco station on 8 Mile Road near Van Dyke Avenue.

The victim was pumping gas in her Nissan Altima when a white SUV identified as a GMC Yukon by Local 4, pulled up beside her, police said. A person got out of the SUV, according to authorities, and walked over to the woman and open fired, striking her several times.

The suspect then got into the woman's car and drove off; the Yukon also left at the same time.

Sgt. Scott Isaacson with the Warren Police Department said the woman was found lying on the ground when they arrived on scene.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery for her injuries. She was last listed in critical condition on Friday; no update was released on Saturday.

Police said on Friday morning that they knew at least two individuals were suspected to be involved in the carjacking, but search warrant that was executed by police in Detroit led to the arrest of three suspects Friday afternoon.

Police initially went back and forth about calling the incident a carjacking on Friday. As their investigation yielded more details, authorities confirmed the encounter was a carjacking on Saturday and the victim appeared to be selected at random.

Authorities have not released the identities or any other details about the suspects, but the three are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, April 18.

It is not currently known what kind of charges the suspects will face.

No other information about the incident has been made public at this time.
