MILFORD TWP. (WWJ) -- A family is devastated after a tragic end to a Memorial Day family gathering at an Oakland County beach.
Officials said a 6-year-old girl from Detroit was with her family at Kensington Metropark in Milford Township on Monday when she was reported missing around 5:30 p.m.
Park officials and volunteers joined together in the search and even formed a human chain along Martindale Beach. Fire crews and a dive team were also on the scene.
Officials confirmed with WWJ Newsradio 950 that the little girl was found unresponsive in Kent Lake.
She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
