Amazon now hiring at $15.50/hour for new metro Detroit fulfillment centers

Company is advertising bonuses, including one for vaccinated new hires

(WWJ) Amazon has the "now hiring" sign posted in metro Detroit.

With the new fulfillment center at the former Pontiac Silverdome site ramping up operations, the company is in need of workers for that location, as well as its XL fulfillment center in Huron Charter Township.

Amazon says it is looking for full-time warehouse associates, and its offering bonuses to bring people.

in The company says it's also offering sign-on bonuses of up to $1,000, and new hires that come on board fully vaccinated will also receive $100 on their first day.

Pay starts at $15.50 per hour, with a chance to earn up to $18.50 an hour plus benefits — including healthcare, 401(k) with a 50% match and company stock. In metro Detroit, Amazon employees, their spouses and children, also have exclusive access to Neighborhood Health Centers, located in Royal Oak, Westland and Brownstown

For those who want to further their education, Amazon is touting its "Career Choice" program for hourly employees. The company says it will pre-pay up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
