ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – Ann Arbor police are investigating after a former city official was found murdered on Thursday.

Officers were called to conduct a welfare check at a home on Chapin Street, near Huron and Main, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

When officers entered the home they found the body of 51-year-old Jude Walton. Ann Arbor police officials identified her as a former commissioner of the city’s Independent Community Police Oversight Commission.

Authorities say next of kin has been notified and her death is being investigated as a homicide.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Police officials are asking anyone with information about Walton’s death to contact the Ann Arbor Police Department at 734-794-6920 or email the tip line at tips@a2gov.org.

The police oversight commission was formed by Ann Arbor City Council in 2019. Walton worked as the director of human resources at a nonprofit affordable housing provider in the city, according to a report from MLive.
