DEARBORN (WWJ) -- An encounter between two men turned violent Saturday after one allegedly chased down the other across cities before shooting and injuring him.

Around 7 p.m. Saturday, Dearborn police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Notre Dame and Bailey St., just west of Telegraph.

Officials told WXYZ that the men were in separate vehicles and that the suspect chased the victim from Inkster to Dearborn and that the altercation may have started as an argument.

After crossing into Dearborn, the victim exited his car and attempted to escape his attacker on foot. As he ran, he was shot and injured by the suspect.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

It is unclear whether a suspect is in custody, but Dearborn police told WXYZ they wanted to assure the public that this was not a random attack or a drive-by shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Dearborn PD at 313-943-2241, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
