DETROIT (WWJ) -- A teenage boy is in the hospital, recovering after being struck by a bullet during a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon.

Detroit police said the 15-year-old boy was walking with another person near Mendota St. and Grand River, just east of Meyers Rd. Someone in a car fired shots in the area, and the teen was hit.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

At this time, nothing is known about possible suspects or motives for the shooting. It is also unclear whether or not the boy was the intended victim.

Police are emphasizing that this is an open case, and investigators are working with preliminary information.
