(WWJ) One of the men facing charges related to an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is out of jail.

Administrators who oversee the Antrim County Jail in northern Michigan say Shawn Michael Fix of Belleville posted bond and was released on Tuesday.

Fix, 38, is facing terrorism-related charges in connection with the plot, uncovered by the FBI last month, which authorities say also included plans to target police officers and attack the state Capitol building.

While Fix's attorney had said his client had very little to do with the case, Assistant Attorney General Townsend, when requesting a high bond, argued that Fix and his co-defendants were all "extremely dangerous."

“They belong to a group, a militia group, called the Wolverine Watchmen. All these individuals were committed to violence to target government, government officials, politicians," Townsend said.

According to the Attorney General affidavit, Fix is accused of attending tactical training, hosting a meeting, contributing to planning and assisting in identifying the governor’s vacation home.

As conditions of his bond, Fix is ordered to have no contact with Gov. Whitmer, stay 500 yards or more away from her workplace or residence, have no contact with the Wolverine Watchmen, and no contact with any terrorist, militia, or other similar group. He must also wear a GPS tether, and is not not permitted to leave the state or possess weapons.

Fix faces up to 20 years in prison and/or $20,000 in fines if convicted as charged.

A total of 13 other suspects are also facing state or federal charges in the case.
