(WWJ) Police in Macomb County's Shelby Township are investigating a deadly crash, apparently involving just one vehicle.
Township Police and EMS responded to the scene, just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, along Jewel Rd., north of 24 Mile Rd.
Officers found a 2017 Cadillac on its side on the east side of the roadway.
There were no other damaged cars at the scene.
The driver and lone occupant of the Cadillac — identified as a 41-year-old Washington Township man — was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release.
Hours later, police said the man died in the hospital. His name was not immediately released.
While it's not clear at this time what led to the crash, police said investigators do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor.
As the investigation continues, police want to speak with any witnesses.
Those with information are asked to call Traffic Services Bureau Sgt. Joe Wojcik at 586-731-2121, Ext. 325.
