Carjacking at gunpoint in Highland Park leaves police searching for tips

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are looking for information on two suspects in connection with a carjacking in Highland Park on Jan. 26.

Authorities said a woman was approached by a man as she exited a gas station on the 11500 block of Hamilton around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night. The suspect waved a gun and pointed it at her while demanding her car keys. The man kept his gun on the victim's back as he got into the driver's seat and a second suspect got in on the passenger's side.

They then took off in the victim's car, heading north on Hamilton Street.

Police are seacrching for a red 2014 Chevy Equinox with a Michigan license plate of: 6KCF95.

The two suspects are described as male. One is thought to be in his 30's and has a medium build -- he was wearing all black clothing with a black ski mask.

The second suspect was estimated to be in his 20s with a slender build. He was also wearing all black and a black ski mask.

Police have released video of the carjacking and have urged the public to call the department with any information in connection to this crime.
