(WWJ) -- Summer is just around the corner and thrill-seeking season is just getting underway at Cedar Point.

But the folks at the “Roller Coaster Capital of the World” say they will have to keep the gates closed for eight days in June as they deal with a shortage on workers.

Cedar Point will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through June 23 because they don’t have enough staff. The dates the park will be closed are June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23.

In a Facebook post Friday, Cedar Point says despite efforts to recruit workers, they’re still short-staffed.

“We've added more than 300 full-time, year-round positions -- with benefits - to our food & beverage team, we've introduces a $500 seasonal sign-on bonus for associates and we're now increasing the 2021 seasonal and part-time wage for all positions to $20/hr, a 100% increase over 2020 wage rates,” the post says.

“While we've ramped up these recruiting efforts, we continue to adjust our operating calendar based on the availability of seasonal labor. As a result, Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark will be closed select days in June.”

Officials say guests who have booked an overnight stay or have made ticket or Season Pass park reservations will be contacted directly with further information.
