TROY (WWJ) -- A Macomb County man is facing a drunken driving charge after he was pulled over for speeding last week in Troy.

At 2:10 a.m. on Friday, August 4, Troy Police said made a traffic stop after spotting the driver of a 2010 BMW 528 speeding in the area of Investment Drive and Crooks Road.

When officers spoke with the man, identified as a 28-year-old Chesterfield Township resident, they reported smelling "an odor of intoxicants emanating from his vehicle."

The driver was asked to perform several sobriety evaluations, and he agreed, but officers said he performed poorly.

Police said the man took a breathalyzer test at the scene, with a result of .12% BAC (blood alcohol concentration).

The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy Police lock-up where a chemical breath test showed results of .131% and .125% BAC. The legal BAC limit for driving in Michigan is .08%.

When searching the man's BMW, police said they found an open half-pint bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey.

The driver was issued citations for Operating While Intoxicated and Possession/Transport of Open Intoxicants in a Vehicle. His name was not released.
