FLINT (WWJ) - Two parents and three children are dead after a raging house fire broke out early Monday morning, leaving one boy the sole survivor of the incident after he escaped from a second story window, authorities said.

Flint Fire Chief Ray Barton said via mLive that the department was made awre of the fire around 4:40 a.m. on Monday. Crews were dispatched to the residence located on the 1600 block of Euclid Ave.

By the time firefighters arrived on scene, the first floor of the home was completely engulfed in flames.

One of the neighbors, Davien Ford, said he and his wife woke up after they heard someone yelling for help. When they looked outside, they saw the flames coming from the neighbor's home.

Family members told mLive that one of the children, a young boy, managed to escape the fire by escaping out a second story window. Authorities said the child is sedated and on a ventilator at Hurley Medical Center as of Tuesday morning.

The family said the boy is in stable condition, as reported by mLive.

According to Flint Police Chief Terrance Green, there was a total of six people in the house at the time of the fire; the boy is the only family member that managed to make it to safety.

“It’s a tragedy for me right now,” family member Audra Bradley said at the scene of the fire. “Like, I’m in disbelief. I get off work at 6:30 in the morning and get a call like this. I’m still trying to figure out what happened.”

Bradley said she is “all cried out right now.”

“It’s just unbelievable right now to me,” she said. “My whole family is gone.”

Ford told mLive he was in disbelief as he recalled some of his interactions with the family.

“My kids have been playing with them for the last couple of years,” he said of the four children who lived in the home. “They come to my house and jump on the trampoline.”

Barton said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He said the home did not have any smoke detectors and they're trying to determine where the fire first started.
