DETROIT (WWJ) -- When Michigan State Police attempted to pull over a wanted vehicle Monday, the driver sped off, then led troopers on a foot chase through a nearby neighborhood where he was finally arrested.
Just before 2 a.m. Monday, state troopers were on routine patrol on westbound I-96 near Greenfield when they observed a Jeep with a stolen license plate.
The Jeep also matched the description of a vehicle connected to a shooting investigation.
Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the Jeep did not comply and drove off instead.
MSP pursued the vehicle north until the driver pulled over near Sussex St. and Grand River Ave.
Getting out of the Jeep, the suspect fled on foot and jumped over several fences in the hopes of escaping.
Additional troopers responded to the scene and caught up with the driver -- a 31-year-old man.
He was arrested and remains in custody while prosecutors review the case and consider potential charges.
