DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) – Five teenagers and a 12-year-old are in trouble with the law after being arrested following a police chase in a stolen car early Friday morning in Dearborn Heights.

Dearborn Heights police officers Kellen Przywara and Justin Thompson were on patrol just after 4 a.m. Friday in the Military Hills neighborhood – near Longview and North Elizabeth – due to recent complaints of stolen cars and thefts from cars, according to the department.

The officers tried to stop a stolen car they spotted in the area, but the driver – a 14-year-old boy from Detroit – disregarded their emergency lights.

He continued driving erratically as the officers pursued the car for several minutes until it came to a stop at Cathedral and the Southfield Service Drive, according to police.

Three suspects got out and ran from the scene, while three others remained in the car and were taken into custody.

The three who fled were eventually arrested, officials said.

Dearborn Heights police shared video on Facebook of the chase coming to an end, showing the driver and two passengers running from the silver sedan.

In addition to the driver, a 15-year-old girl from Highland Park, a 17-year-old girl from Detroit and three other boys from Detroit – ages 12, 14 and 15 – were all arrested.

Officials did not specify which suspects ran from the scene, aside from the driver.

Authorities recovered a facemask, handgun ammunition, key fobs from other stolen vehicles and other evidence.

“The investigation is ongoing and will include relentless follow up and assessment by our newly formed, multi-jurisdictional task force with the City of Dearborn,” police officials said in the Facebook post.
